a 7.8 magnitude earthquake strikes nepal april 25, 2015.

Current reports coming out of the area report over 3200 dead with the number expected to go higher.  Most reports are coming out of Kathmandu which reports heavy damage occurring not only from the initial earthquake, but the large aftershocks.  Many of the outlying areas have not been reached but reports are that as many as 80% of the structures in those areas may be damaged or down.  Calvary Chapel has a church and Bible College in Kathmandu.  Latest reports are that staff and students are unharmed, but are all living in fields at this time do to the aftershocks.  We are in the process of getting an assessment team into Kathmandu as soon as possible.  Please read the attached letter below from Pastor Brent Kaser (CC Westgrove, CA).  As always these situations open doors which allow us the opportunity to share His Love in ways that may not have been possible.  Please pray for our Brothers and Sisters in Nepal and the surrounding regions, and pray about either going to serve or finically supporting our relief and ministry operations in Nepal.

In light of the devastating earthquake in Nepal yesterday, I am getting emails from many of you asking about our Calvary Chapel missionaries and bible college students in Kathmandu. All of our staff and students are safe, but they are very shaken by this disaster. Some of our students had homes that collapsed in their villages, and a few have been unable to locate family members. Please keep them in your prayers. The Calvary Chapel facility was not damaged.

Our missionaries on the ground are currently sleeping in an open field to be safe from any aftershocks. We have been able to encourage them and pray with them, and as soon as they can clearly assess the situation, they will see how the Lord will direct them to start ministering to the hurting. We are anticipating that our facility can be a source of relief- both physically and spiritually. We hope to be able to send a relief team as soon as possible.

We have opened a relief fund through Promise Child, and guarantee that 100% of all donated funds will be used for earthquake relief.  Please spread the word to those who are looking for a trusted place to give. The fund can be accessed at  promisechild.org. (See link below)

I am in Israel right now, so I am in a different time zone, but I will be working on the logistics from here. Please contact me with any questions.

Until the last one hears,
