The picture above is from the Resurrection Service at The River Church, and the bottom one is the fellowship hall! If you haven't seen our Facebook updates we are 95% finished with the interior of The River Church and were able to move the church back in two Sundays before Easter! On Easter, we had the most attendance ever! There were about 15 or more people in attendance whose homes we have worked on over the past six months-Glory To God!!
There is still a lot of work to do on the outside of the church and we are looking for teams to come in and help. There is a lot of landscape work, part of the building needs to be resided, and some of it needs a new roof. We have worked on close to 200 homes here in Colorado. Some of the work has been simply to advise homeowners on what to do, and others have gone all the way from the clean-out to being made ready to move in. Of course, we have had a lot of help and have been amazed to see how things have moved along. We've been blessed to have a few teams come in specifically to help us and we have one more scheduled from Harvest in Riverside, CA coming in next week. Other than that, no more teams are scheduled. We also from time to time have more locally based volunteers who we are able to engage. A few people have come out more than once-the middle picture is Lee Murray putting the finishing touches on the new entry door at The River Church. He, his wife Pam and their daughter Erin joined us from NC. This is their 2nd trip to CO and they also joined in the work in OK after last years tornados. We were blessed over the past few months to help support two Mennonite/Amish groups, Christian Aid Ministries (CAM) and Christian Disaster Relief (CDR). They are well organized and worked on several homes doing reconstruction. They mostly operated on their own and we tried to help with whatever little we could do to help them with their mission. They worked on several homes and also helped on the River Church rebuild. Several homes have been finished and the homeowners have already moved back in or are ready to move back. Unfortunately their deployment ended this month and they were unable to get as much work done as they had hoped due to circumstances beyond their control. There are a few homes that have a little work to be done and Calvary Relief will put the final touches on them so that the homeowners can move back in the next couple of weeks. There are a few more homes that require more extensive work and at this time we don't have the manpower to complete. If any of you wish to join us here in Colorado in the near future, then we could help these homeowners as well. Please contact us ASAP. We have the tools, know-how, sleeping quarters, showers, food, etc, all we need is you! We've had quite a few families come to The River Church and a few more that have expressed interest in coming. The Lord is good and has opened many doors for ministry here and we continue to pray that He would work in lives to change them for eternity. I have also been blessed to teach a Bible Study on Tuesday nights at The River Church. It is going well and it seems that as long as we are here, the study will continue with me teaching and then hopefully become a weekly study after we leave. Please continue to keep us, those affected by the floods, and the work The Lord has called us to in your prayers. If you can join us, or help support please let us know. Thanks for all your prayers and support. You can see that we still have more work to do on the details of the church as well as furniture, but the saints were so blessed to be back in their house of worship!
Pastor Gerry Brown Pastor Ron Brown continues to lead the teams and give us updates from the CC Relief work that is going on. What a blessing to see people continue to pour out the Love of Jesus on these desperate people. This is another house for the people from Sabang Suribau where many of our church members were affected by the storm. We are continuing to reach out by building houses for members of the church that had their homes completely destroyed in the Typhoon. We have pastors teaching our regular weekly prison ministry, Here is Pastor Roger Stalhut of CC New Horizon in Oregon having his opportunity to minister there. It’s always a blessing having visiting Pastor’s teaching our Bible College Students while they are with us, here is Pastor Billy, CC Hatteras Island teaching the bible school. |
