The team with the help of our Bible College students have been distributing food to a couple of villages about an hour’s drive from the Bible College, they are home to about 85 families. Attempts will be made today to get supplies to another village on the Chinese border that was very close to the epicenter. The village is about 4 hours, by car, from the college and another 6 hours on foot. The village is home to about 200 families. It has received no assistance to date and is between 90-95% damaged or destroyed.
Current government figures put the death toll at around 7500, with 2.8 million people displaced. Most of the damage and loss of life has been reported in the outlying villages.
In the coming days, we hope to establish working relationships with Government and Non-government Organizations (NGOs) and to offer assistance in helping move supplies to needed locations. We have working relationships with a number of Christian pastors from the outlying villages and are looking to work with and through them to reach the people of Nepal. We also have a base in Kathmandu and hope to be hosting teams soon to assist our local students and staff as they reach out to the victims in the love of Christ.
