PLEASE READ THIS STORY.... As we were driving through that neighborhood earlier where we were handing out supplies - we were about to take off down the street in the truck looking for one of the guys on our team, and all of a sudden a car pulls up next to us driven by the lady in the yellow shirt whose name is Beth. She rolled down her window and asked us if we were helping people and we said yes. She asked if we could help her get her refrigerator out of her house and we said of course. As we made our way towards her house Beth told us that her husband Roy was in the hospital due to a major infection in his foot caused by the flood water and that he almost had to have his foot amputated. She has been trying to work on the house by herself while her husband was in the hospital. As we walked up to her front door there was a bad scent coming from inside, and as we walked in we could tell very quickly that there was a major gas leak in the house, and all the windows were closed. We searched for the source of the gas leak but couldn't find it so we shut the gas off outside, opened up all her windows and took her fridge out for her. I asked Beth if she had smelt the gas in the house and she said no. She had been in her house for 4 hours earlier working and was telling us how tired she was. I told her that that was a result of the gas in the house and we made her promise she wouldn't go back inside. Another one of our teams will come to her house to help with another area in the back that hasn't been gutted yet. This all came about because she asked us to help her with her refrigerator but I believe with all my heart that God had her pull up next to us right as we were about to drive away so that her life would be spared. If she had spent more time in the house alone, with everything closed up like that it would've killed her - but by the grace and mercy of God it didn't and now she can go back to spend time with her husband in the hospital. God is so amazing! We left thanking the Lord for intervening the way He did and connecting us with Beth. This is just one of many stories that could be told by those serving here of what God has done.
